Korn Ferry is partnering with Michigan Medicine to recruit a senior enterprise Financial Planning & Analysis leader who will help shape the financial strategy and performance of one of the nation’s premier academic health systems.
Michigan Medicine is a nationally recognized, $8.5 billion academic health enterprise with more than 1,000 licensed beds, a broad regional network, and over 2,400 physicians. This leader will provide systemwide oversight of financial planning, capital strategy, performance analytics, and long-range forecasting across a complex clinical enterprise that includes the Academic Medical Center in Ann Arbor and hospitals and clinics throughout the Regional Health Network.
The Opportunity
This role will lead the annual operating and capital budgeting processes while developing and maintaining multi-year strategic financial frameworks. The individual will oversee enterprise financial modeling, pro forma development, clinical benchmarking (including Vizient), managerial and cost accounting functions, and executive financial reporting.
As Michigan Medicine moves toward implementation of a unified enterprise ERP platform across multiple regions, this leader will play a pivotal role in modernizing financial infrastructure, ensuring data integrity, and building scalable analytics capabilities. The position requires a systems thinker who is comfortable operating in a complex, multi-entity environment and partnering across clinical, operational, and finance leadership.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead annual operating and capital budgeting processes across the Academic Medical Center and Regional Health Network
- Develop and maintain multi-year financial forecasting models with scenario planning capabilities
- Generate financial pro formas and economic models to support strategic initiatives, new ventures, and capital investments
- Oversee external benchmarking and productivity analytics, including Vizient reporting
- Produce managerial financial reporting and analysis to support executive decision-making
- Partner with finance, revenue cycle, contracting, reimbursement, and strategy leaders to ensure alignment
- Support ERP design, testing, and implementation as part of enterprise transformation
- Build and lead high-performing finance and analytics teams across multiple geographies
Experience and Professional Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in economics, business or public administration, finance, health administration, public health, health economics, or related field from an accredited institution of higher education; master’s degree preferred
- Minimum of 10 years of progressive leadership experience in finance, budgeting, and/or analytics within the healthcare industry; experience within academic health systems or affiliates preferred
- Demonstrated experience with multi-year forecasting, predictive modeling, and business planning within a complex, multi-hospital and geographically dispersed clinical enterprise
- Experience scaling financial planning and analytics processes in the context of acquisitions, mergers, partnerships, affiliations, or joint ventures
- Exposure to reimbursement analytics across bundled payments, risk contracting, and capitation models
- Strong executive communication skills with a track record of coordinating multi-participant budgeting and planning processes
- Ability to operate strategically and translate financial analysis into actionable insight for senior leadership
- Proven success building and mentoring finance teams within complex governance environments
