About AAA
The American Automobile Association (AAA) is a member-centric organization, founded in 1902 in response to the invention of the automobile. From its original mission of safer roads for the traveling motorist, AAA has always been about “people helping people.” Our organization’s guiding principle is to do what is right for the member at all times, continually improving quality and relevance. Our member-centric approach to business fosters credibility and deepens relationships with those whom we serve.

Unlike other national brands, AAA is not a monolithic corporation, but an association of 19 independently operated motor clubs across the United States sharing a commitment to delivering exceptional services to their members. As affiliates of this association, clubs are separate, autonomous entities (each with their own CEO and Board of Directors) licensed to use the AAA brand to serve members in local markets within their exclusive territories. In turn, clubs collaborate and partner with one another to achieve collective innovations, exchange best practices, and improve efficiencies. Local autonomy, combined with the scale of being part of a nationwide network, enables clubs to “think nationally, act locally” to provide unique and optimal benefits to members. AAA clubs are subject to various rules and regulations adopted by the AAA Board of Directors, and are subject to an accreditation program designed to ensure adherence to high standards for service quality.

AAA, Inc. (also known as AAA National Office) exists to support AAA clubs, inclusive of the association’s purpose as well as to support the development and execution of the Association Strategic Plan. AAA, Inc. is committed to protecting and strengthening the relevance of the AAA brand, striving for long-term success and stability – not short-term advantage. Among the many roles of AAA, Inc. are oversight of the association’s decision-making/governance structure, strategy development as well as the accreditation process.

The President and CEO provides leadership and strategic direction for the American Automobile Association (AAA) in support of stated policies, goals and objectives established by the AAA Board of Directors. The CEO leads by influence and instills trust to build consensus among key stakeholders. They work closely with AAA Club CEOs (peers), Board members, and the Chair to ensure appropriate actions are taken to fulfill the mission of the Association and AAA, Inc. Serving as CEO of AAA, Inc., the national “center” of the association, this leader oversees all aspects of its operations. Additionally, they represent the association’s collective interests with national business partners and represent AAA’s international relations via the Global Mobility Alliance (GMA) and Federation de l’Automobile (FIA).
