Houston Methodist invites nominations and expressions of interest for the position of Chair, Department of Radiation Oncology.

The Department of Radiation Oncology is a cornerstone of the Houston Methodist Dr. Mary and Ron Neal Cancer Center, a high-volume program treating approximately 7,000 new cancer patients annually across eight locations. The department is distinguished by its legacy of innovation and continued investment in advanced technologies, including stereotactic radiosurgery, Gamma Knife, and comprehensive brachytherapy programs, supported by a robust academic and research infrastructure.

The Chair will assume a prominent executive and academic leadership role, responsible for advancing the department’s strategy across clinical care, research, education, and operations. In close partnership with Cancer Center and system leadership, the Chair will strengthen multidisciplinary integration, enhance academic productivity, and elevate the department’s national profile.

A key priority for the Chair will be to grow and develop the faculty through strategic recruitment, mentorship, and retention while expanding clinical trials, translational research, and educational programs. The Chair will foster a collaborative, high-performing culture grounded in innovation, scientific rigor, and patient-centered care.

The Chair will also oversee quality, safety, and operational performance while championing innovation in care delivery and research, including the continued advancement of precision oncology and AI-enabled capabilities across the department. The ideal candidate will be an accomplished academic radiation oncologist with a strong record of leadership, clinical excellence, and scholarly achievement, along with the ability to lead growth and foster collaboration within a complex academic health system.
