The Trust is now seeking an exceptional Chair to succeed the current postholder and help lead the next phase of its development. This appointment comes at a pivotal moment for both the organisation and the wider NHS. As healthcare systems continue to face significant operational, financial and workforce challenges, Guy’s and St Thomas’ remains committed to delivering outstanding patient care, advancing medical discovery, reducing health inequalities and driving innovation at scale. The next Chair will play a critical role in helping the organisation navigate this evolving landscape while preserving its position as one of the country’s leading academic health centres. 

Working in close partnership with the Chief Executive, Board and Council of Governors, the Chair will provide strategic leadership to a highly experienced and influential Board. They will ensure the highest standards of governance and public accountability, while fostering a culture of collaboration, challenge and continuous improvement. Beyond the Boardroom, the Chair will act as an ambassador for the Trust, building productive relationships across government, the NHS, academia, research institutions, industry partners and local communities.

Candidates will bring outstanding relationship-building skills, strong strategic judgement and an ability to work effectively across diverse stakeholder groups.
