Our client, Metropolitan Water District, seeks an Executive Legislative Representative to be based out of Sacramento, CA.
As the chief lobbyist for the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California, this person directs and participates in all legislative activities related to the implementation of Metropolitan’s state advocacy programs. The Executive Legislative Representative represents Metropolitan’s interests before the State Legislature and Executive Branch and plays a critical role in promoting and protecting Metropolitan’s near- and long-term legislative, regulatory, and policy objectives. The position is also responsible for managing a small internal staff along with contract consultants.
The Executive Legislative Representative will have a minimum of six years of progressively responsible, directly-related experience in government relations and legislative advocacy at the state level; a combination of education and directly-related experience totaling 10 years is also acceptable. This person must have thorough knowledge of the California legislative and executive branches and management/supervisory concepts and techniques. The successful candidate must possess a strong political acumen and exceptional analytical and communications skills with a demonstrated ability to achieve desired results. A solid understanding of current urban, agricultural or environmental water issues and policies is preferred but not required.
