Korn Ferry is proud to partner with MedStar Harbor Hospital in the search for a dynamic and experienced Director of Nursing, Women & Infant Services. This on-site leadership opportunity is based in vibrant Baltimore, MD, and offers the chance to make a significant impact as the Women & Infant Services program continues to expand and evolve.

MedStar Harbor Hospital, a Magnet-designated 124-bed acute care facility, is part of MedStar Health, one of the most respected and innovative not-for-profit healthcare systems in the region. As Director, you will oversee the daily operations of Labor & Delivery, Postpartum, and Nursery units, with full 24-hour leadership responsibility across clinical, operational, personnel, and financial domains. Reporting to the Senior Director of Nursing Operations and Patient Care Services, you will work closely with interdisciplinary leaders and physicians to foster excellence in patient care, professional nursing practice, and continuous growth.

This is a pivotal time for Women & Infant Services at MedStar Harbor, and they are seeking a leader who brings deep Labor & Delivery experience, a passion for mentoring and growing clinical teams, and the operational savvy to strengthen and scale services. You will join a collaborative leadership team committed to innovation, excellence, and the highest standards of patient-centered care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic and operational leadership for Labor & Delivery, Postpartum, and Nursery units, creating an environment of clinical excellence, teamwork, and professional development.
  • Drive engagement, quality, safety, and financial stewardship initiatives in alignment with MedStar’s mission, vision, and Magnet standards.
  • Collaborate with nursing leadership, medical staff, and interdisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes and elevate the patient and family experience.
  • Lead workforce development efforts, including hiring, coaching, retention, and succession planning for a high-performing, mission-driven nursing team.
  • Oversee budget management, resource allocation, and performance improvement initiatives, positioning Women & Infant Services for continued success and growth.
  • Support MedStar Harbor’s ongoing pursuit of excellence, including preparation for CCNE accreditation and systemwide nursing initiatives.

Professional Experience & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing from an accredited program required; Master’s degree in Nursing or a healthcare-related field preferred.
  • A minimum of 4 years of nursing experience, including significant Labor & Delivery clinical expertise.
  • At least 2 years of nursing leadership or management experience preferred.
  • RN licensure in Maryland (or compact state eligibility) required.
  • Specialty certification in a clinical specialty or Nursing Administration preferred (or to be obtained within two years of hire).
  • Certification in Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) required within 12–15 months of hire.
  • CPR (BLS) and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certifications required within 90 days of hire.
  • Proven leadership skills in coaching, mentoring, team building, and change management.
Compensation:
The estimated salary range for this role is $135,000 to $160,000, commensurate with experience and skills.
