About The American Technion Society
The American Technion Society (ATS) is a dynamic, mission‑driven organization that plays a defining role in advancing one of the world’s great scientific institutions. Founded in 1940, ATS serves as the principal U.S. philanthropic partner and ambassador of the Technion – Israel Institute of Technology, mobilizing American leadership, investment, and influence to propel scientific discovery, innovation, and global impact.
With its headquarters in New York City, ATS operates through a national platform including regional offices, volunteer leadership, and a broad network of committed supporters across the country. Its constituency spans visionary philanthropists, industry leaders, entrepreneurs, scientists, alumni, and emerging innovators—individuals united by a belief in the power of science and technology to shape a better future. ATS is both a steward of long‑standing relationships and a catalyst for engaging the next generation of supporters who are motivated by impact, innovation, and global relevance.
Over more than eight decades, ATS has raised billions of dollars to support the Technion’s most critical priorities. These investments have enabled the recruitment and retention of world‑class faculty, expanded access to education through scholarships and fellowships, fueled pioneering research across disciplines, and financed state‑of‑the‑art academic, research, and student life facilities. ATS philanthropy has been instrumental in strengthening the Technion’s global competitiveness and in accelerating the translation of scientific breakthroughs into real‑world solutions that benefit Israel and the international community.
ATS’s work extends well beyond traditional fundraising. The organization functions as a strategic partner to Technion leadership, aligning philanthropic strategy with institutional vision and long‑term academic priorities. It plays a vital role in shaping and communicating the Technion’s story in the United States—articulating its relevance to global challenges such as healthcare innovation, climate resilience, food and water security, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and sustainable energy. Through regular meetings, missions, events, and thought leadership, ATS brings the Technion’s impact to life and positions it at the center of conversations about innovation and societal progress.
Equally important, ATS serves as a powerful bridge between American philanthropy and Israeli innovation. It strengthens ties between U.S. and Israeli academic, scientific, and business communities, fostering collaboration and partnership across borders. In doing so, ATS helps ensure that the Technion remains at the forefront of the global innovation ecosystem and that its discoveries and talent continue to influence industries and societies worldwide.
At its core, the American Technion Society is an organization defined by focus, ambition, credibility, and purpose. It operates at the intersection of higher education, philanthropy, technology, and global engagement, supporting not only a university, but a vision of how science and technology can improve lives and secure the future. As the Technion continues to expand its global footprint and confront increasingly complex challenges, ATS stands as an essential partner in translating bold ideas into lasting impact.
About the Technion – Israel Institute of Technology
The Technion – Israel Institute of Technology is widely recognized as Israel’s leading scientific and technological university and among the world’s foremost institutions of applied research and innovation. Located in Haifa, the Technion has been a cornerstone of Israel’s development for more than a century, educating the architects of the nation’s infrastructure, the pioneers of its high‑tech economy, and the innovators behind some of its most transformative breakthroughs.
From engineering and computer science to medicine, biotechnology, sustainable energy, and national defense, Technion research and talent shape industries and improve lives across the globe. Its alumni populate the highest levels of leadership in government, academia, and multinational corporations, while its faculty push the frontiers of knowledge through interdisciplinary research and commercialization. The Technion’s entrepreneurial ecosystem has launched countless startups, forged deep partnerships with global industry, and helped define Israel’s identity as the “Start‑Up Nation.”
A global university in both outlook and footprint, the Technion collaborates with leading academic and research institutions on multiple continents. Its commitment to excellence, innovation, and societal impact has earned it a reputation as a place where bold ideas move rapidly from the lab to the marketplace—and where science is harnessed in service of humanity.
Beyond its global academic standing, the Technion plays a defining role in Israel’s economic resilience, technological leadership, and national security. Technion alumni and faculty have been instrumental in developing many of the advanced technologies that protect Israeli citizens each day, spanning cybersecurity, defense systems, medical innovation, and emergency response. At a moment of heightened global and regional complexity, the Technion stands as both a source of life‑saving innovation and a symbol of Israel’s capacity to meet existential challenges through science, ingenuity, and human capital.
Equally central to the Technion’s identity is its longstanding commitment to inclusion and shared society. Since opening its doors in 1924, the Technion has welcomed students regardless of religion, race, nationality, or gender, a tradition that continues today. The university serves one of the most diverse student bodies in Israel, including a significant population of Israeli Arab students who learn, live, and innovate alongside their peers in a campus culture defined by mutual respect, academic rigor, and coexistence. This model of excellence and inclusion has positioned the Technion not only as a technological powerhouse, but as a vision of what Israeli society can achieve at its best.
A Distinctive Partnership
ATS and the Technion are independent institutions with distinct governance structures, yet they are inseparably linked by mission, trust, and shared aspiration. The Technion sets academic vision and scientific priorities; ATS mobilizes the philanthropic resources, leadership engagement, and strategic support required to bring that vision to life in the United States. This partnership, refined over generations, has been instrumental in the Technion’s ascent as a global innovation powerhouse.
Through close alignment with Technion leadership, ATS translates institutional priorities into transformational investment opportunities, ensuring that American philanthropy drives maximum impact. The relationship is not transactional, but deeply collaborative: ATS helps shape long‑term capacity, strengthen global competitiveness, and expand the Technion’s influence far beyond Israel’s borders.
Together, the American Technion Society and the Technion represent a bold model of philanthropy in action—one that unites scientific excellence, entrepreneurial spirit, and global responsibility. At a time when innovation is essential to solving the world’s most complex problems, this partnership remains a vital force for progress, resilience, and hope.
