Chief Experience Officer
Knight Cancer Group at Oregon Health & Sciences University (OHSU) invites applications and nominations for the inaugural Chief Experience Officer.
The inaugural Chief Experience Officer (CXO) of the Knight Cancer Group will play a pivotal role in a once-in-a-generation transformation in cancer care – helping to shape a new era defined by seamless, compassionate and highly coordinated patient and caregiver experience, deep integration of whole-person care, experience design that’s closely aligned with research, and a culture of simplicity, empathy and excellence that empowers faculty and staff to delivery care that is both clinically exceptional and deeply human. Reporting to the Dr. Brian Druker, President of the Knight Cancer Group, the CXO will be responsible for enterprise experience strategy and leadership, patient, family and caregiver experience, workforce, faculty, and researcher experience, digital innovation and experience enablement, provider engagement and academic collaboration, community engagement and advocacy, and more.
Backed by a historic $2 billion gift from Phil and Penny Knight, the Knight Cancer Group transitioned nearly 2,000 team members into a new organizational structure that already generates more than $1 billion in annual revenue with a strong operating margin. As oncology volumes expand significantly over the next six years, the CXO will help ensure that scale and growth are matched by a consistently outstanding and differentiated patient and family experience.
Ideal CXO candidates will bring:
• Senior patient experience leadership in academic or nonprofit healthcare organizations
• Proven understanding of contemporary and progressive service excellence methodology with a demonstrated passion for the delivery of the highest level of service to customers and/or patients and their families.
• Track record of leveraging digital health and experience-enabling technologies – as well as data, metrics and real-time feedback – to drive measurable improvements in experience and performance.
• Deep commitment to equity, collaboration, and whole-person care
• Ability to influence without direct authority, navigate shared governance and matrixed leadership models, and strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and inspire diverse stakeholders
