The Opportunity:
Women & Infants Hospital, a key part of the Care New England Health System, is seeking a new President and Chief Operating Officer (President/COO). Located in Providence, Rhode Island, Women & Infants is a nationally recognized leader in women’s and newborn health and an affiliate of The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University. As one of the country’s busiest stand-alone obstetrical services and home to the region’s only Level IV Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, Women & Infants Hospital is poised for continued innovation and impact at a pivotal moment in its evolution.
Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, Care New England Health System, the President/COO is responsible for the smooth, effective, and efficient operation of Women & Infants Hospital. A key member of the system’s
executive leadership team, the future President/COO will guide the hospital through continued growth, ensuring the delivery of equitable, patient-centered care that is clinically excellent, financially sustainable, and aligned
with regulatory standards.
The President/COO will inherit a financially healthy and operationally sound hospital and will play a central role as a publicly facing advocate for reproductive rights and healthcare equity. They will enhance operational
integration across Care New England Health System (CNE), supporting system-wide initiatives that elevate care quality and access. Women & Infants Hospital maintains strong academic and clinical partnerships, including with Brown University, and collaborates across disciplines to deliver comprehensive care in obstetrics, gynecologic oncology, reproductive endocrinology, behavioral health, and more. The President/COO will be instrumental in sustaining a culture of excellence, accountability, and collaboration that meets the evolving needs of patients, families, physicians, and staff.

The Candidate:

This seasoned healthcare executive will have with a proven track record of leading complex organizations, preferably within an integrated health system or an academic medical center environment. They will demonstrate a deep understanding of the unique dynamics of academic medicine, including the integration of clinical care, research, and education. Also essential is a strong background in women’s health with the ability to champion innovative care models, advance research initiatives, and foster interdisciplinary collaboration that supports the hospital’s mission and its academic partnerships. This individual brings transformational leadership and a strong growth mindset, fostering collaboration and inclusivity across teams and stakeholders. They possess the ability to balance organizational mission with financial, operational, regulatory, and labor realities, ensuring sustainable success.
