Korn Ferry has partnered with our client on their search for a Physical Power Desk Accountant.
Company Overview:
• A Houston-based global energy trading firm is seeking a highly motivated Desk Accountant to support its physical power trading operations
• This is a high-impact, high-growth role ideal for someone with 2–3+ years of hands-on accounting experience in physical power accounting/trading
• You’ll play a key role in full-cycle desk accounting and financial reporting, while partnering closely with trading and front/middle office teams
Role Summary:
• Reconcile trading activity to P&L and accounting systems
• Validate AR/AP balances and ensure accuracy of trading transactions
• Review balance sheet and working capital items
• Collaborate with trading, operations, and middle office to ensure consistency
• Support close processes, financial reporting, and audit prep
Ideal Candidate Profile:
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance (CPA a plus)
• At least 2–3 years of experience in physical power accounting
• Familiarity with trading environments (prior exposure to power plants/trading desks preferred)
• Excel-savvy and able to work independently
• Driven, upwardly mobile, and comfortable working in a fast-paced setting
Compensation & Benefits:
• Base Salary: $100K–$120K
• Bonus Target: 30%–60%
• Initially hybrid (4/1), transitioning to fully in-office
• Clear path to management within ~2 years for the right individual
