Korn Ferry has partnered with our client on their search for a Commodity Trading Desk Accountant.
Company Overview:
• An international energy trading company is seeking a Desk Accountant to support its commodity trading desks
• Based in Houston, this position will play a key role in monthly close processes, economic-to-accounting P&L reconciliations, and transaction validation across multiple trading products
• It’s a strong fit for someone who thrives in fast-paced, cross-functional environments and is eager to grow in a trading-focused role
Role Summary:
• Reconcile P&L (economic vs. accounting)
• Validate AR/AP and confirm accuracy of trade data
• Review and book commodity trading transactions
• Analyze balance sheet, cash flow, and working capital movements
• Coordinate closely with front/middle office and operations teams
• Support quarter- and year-end close and audit activity
Ideal Candidate Profile:
• Bachelor’s in Accounting or Finance (CPA preferred)
• 2–4 years of experience in desk-level accounting, ideally in energy or commodities
• Solid understanding of financial accounting and trading operations
• Strong Excel skills and attention to detail
• Able to manage deadlines and shifting priorities in a high-volume setting
• Comfortable interfacing with multiple internal stakeholders
Compensation & Benefits:
• Base Salary: $100K–$110K
• Bonus Target: 30%–60%
• Initially hybrid (4/1), transitioning to fully in-office
