Position Summary 

Reporting directly to the newly appointed System Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, Bryan Health and the Bryan Medical Center Board of Directors, the President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Bryan Medical Center will be responsible for the execution, coordination, integration, and optimization of BMC, which includes both East and West campuses. The CEO will be accountable for translating system priorities into operational tactics to achieve the goals and objectives of BMC. The CEO provides leadership, direction and operational oversight for BMC to meet strategic and operational objectives; promotes Marketing and Communication strategies; supports the efficient and cost-effective use of system resources; and cultivates strong relationships among providers. The CEO holds strategic and operational responsibility and authority throughout BMC including Ambulatory Services.

As a key member of the System executive leadership team, the CEO will be intimately involved in setting System strategic priorities and will work closely with clinical, external affairs, and business operations leadership to ensure BMC provides outstanding outcomes, experience and value for patients.

The ideal candidate has extensive executive level experience in a nationally recognized healthcare organization with an exemplary ability to foster productive relationships with providers, enhance quality, grow revenues and achieve sustained financial strength. Candidates should possess strong skills in all aspects of healthcare administration including board relations, strategic planning, patient care support, inpatient and outpatient clinical operations, finance, employed and non-employed physician relations, information technology, human resources, government relations, local associations, marketing, and vendor/payer contract negotiations.

They will engage local, system, and community leadership (physicians, community and hospital leaders) to further develop and drive an effective strategy that is consistent with BMC’s dedication to its vision of becoming the preferred destination for patients and providers, achieved through building a high-performing team and strategic partnerships.

The CEO is expected to be a highly effective, experienced, consensus-building leader who will inspire as well as bring discipline and operational rigor to the organization. This individual will share the vision and values of Bryan Health, demonstrate great integrity, and be seen by all stakeholders as trustworthy, transparent, relational and optimistic. He/she will exhibit situational adaptability and be adept at balancing the needs of multiple stakeholders.

The new CEO will be recognized as a leader, possessing outstanding communication, listening and interpersonal skills, and able to quickly establish credibility and rapport with a broad set of executives, physicians and constituencies. The CEO must have experience collaborating with a large group of independent physicians. He/she must be current on healthcare trends, policies and regulations, both locally and nationally, and is expected to be a respected representative for Bryan Medical Center.

Professional Experience and Qualifications

  • More than ten years of progressive leadership experience as a proven health system/hospital operator within a high-performing, fast-paced organization.
  • Advanced degree required.
  • Demonstrated ability to delegate effectively and to establish clear guidelines for accountability. Ability to build consensus and provide strong leadership in a team environment, with the highest of professional and personal integrity.
  • Strong business planning and program development skills; a proven track record in managing joint ventures and working in an environment with a majority of independent providers.
  • Proven organizational skills and political savvy; results-oriented, hands-on administrative ability is required. Must be a visible leader in their organization.
