Korn Ferry is pleased to represent Federal Agricultural Mortgage Corporation (Farmer Mac) in this very important hire. This is a newly created role in support of the expansion of the company’s Rural Infrastructure sector.

Farmer Mac provides access to low-cost capital for agricultural lenders and rural infrastructure cooperative lenders to manage interest rate, credit, and concentration risk. Purpose of The Position

Reporting to the Chief Credit Officer, the new Senior Credit Risk Officer (SCRO) will share responsibility for overseeing and approving credit for Farmer Mac’s Rural Infrastructure segment.

Working within a collegiate, mission-oriented culture, the SCRO will shape culture and credit policy for telecommunications, renewable energy project finance (wind and solar), and rural utilities. This includes commercial and syndicated loans with market-based structures and covenant packages.

Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate’s responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:
- Review and approve credit requests in Farmer Mac’s Rural Infrastructure segment based on delegated lending authority.
- Provide guidance to underwriting team members on loan structure and overall acceptability of credit risk.
- Meaningfully influence credit committee decision-making based on experience and judgment in communication and renewable energy markets.
- Serve as a voting member on the Credit Approval Committee
- Contribute to developing and monitoring Farmer Mac’s overall credit risk policies, guidelines, and risk appetite. 
- Interact with regulators and internal and external auditors


Skills and Competencies:

- 10-15+ years of progressive responsibility in credit risk and portfolio management roles in telecommunications, renewable energy project finance, and/or rural utilities at a farm credit institution or a commercial bank.
- Proven ability to analyze credit requests and make timely, informed, and confident decisions.
- Experience with rural electric cooperatives, telecommunications, and renewable energy project finance loans.
- Commercial and syndicated loan market experience, including loan structures and covenant packages.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with an ability to communicate effectively to senior management.
- Familiarity with loan underwriting and risk rating standards, including experience implementing credit risk guidelines and methodologies for telecommunications and renewable energy project finance portfolios.
- Confidence in operating independently and firmly while maintaining a commitment to transparency and effective collaboration.
- Bachelor’s degree in economics, business, finance, accounting, or similar discipline.

Compensation: Up to $220,000
