The Opportunity
Korn Ferry is partnering with our client on a search for a Vice President of Finance & Accounting for their executive leadership team. This will be a hands on leader, reporting into the CEO.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee all accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, reconciliations, and month-end close; support organizational goals and long-term strategic initiatives.
  • Prepare and present annual budgets, forecasts, and financial updates to leadership; provide detailed analysis of financial performance against budget and strategy.
  • Lead the annual budget process and ensure effective use of budgets as a management tool.
  • Produce accurate forecasts, variance analysis, and actionable insights for decision-making.
  • Collaborate with department leaders to align financial resources with organizational priorities; assist in establishing yearly financial objectives and performance targets.
  • Oversee long-term financial planning, cost management, and funding strategies in alignment with the organization’s strategic plan.
  • Conduct regular audits of accounts and financial records.
  • Establish, document, and oversee the implementation of accounting policies and internal controls.
  • Manage banking relationships and recommend strategies to optimize cash flow and financial activities.
  • Ensure timely preparation of accurate financial statements, reports, and dashboards for leadership and the Board.
  • Maintain compliance with GAAP, IRS regulations, and government reporting requirements.
  • Oversee financial performance across multiple locations, including sales, margins, inventory controls, and profitability.
  • Partner with operational leaders to align financial practices with organizational goals and performance metrics.
  • Manage restricted and unrestricted funds, grants, and government contracts, ensuring compliance with funder requirements.
  • Align financial reporting with program outcomes and organizational impact.
  • Maintain strong internal controls across finance and operations to ensure accuracy, integrity, and fraud prevention.
  • Serve as the primary contact for external auditors and tax preparers, ensuring timely completion of audits and filings.
  • Continuously review and improve financial systems, policies, and procedures.
  • Oversee accounting and management information systems.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality in all aspects of work.

Education
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration (required).
  • CPA, CMA, or MBA preferred, especially with nonprofit or fund accounting experience.

Qualifications
  • 7–10+ years progressive experience in accounting and finance (ideally within nonprofits or mission-driven organizations but open on industry experience.)
  • Hands-on experience with fund accounting, restricted/unrestricted funds, and grant compliance. (Ideal, not required)
  • Familiarity with nonprofit reporting standards (FASB, 990 filings, OMB Uniform Guidance for federal grants) (Ideal, not required)
  • Prior leadership experience managing accounting/finance teams and collaborating with cross-functional staff.
  • Experience preparing materials for Board Finance Committees or Audit Committees.
